Future Tense (Imperfective Aspect)

The imperfective aspect expresses the idea that an action is in progress and has not been completed. In English, tense is more important than aspect. In Pashto, however, aspect is more important than tense.

The future tense of the imperfective aspect is used to denote:

a) actions in the future that have not been completed

b) actions that will be ongoing at some moment in future

This tense has no fully corresponding tense in English. It can be translated into English with the simple future tense or the future continuous tense.

This tense is formed by combining the particle بٌه with a verb in the present tense. (See Present Tense.)

Negative forms are produced by adding the negative particle "not" - نَه .

"I will do" - زٌه بٌه کَوٌم

"I will not do" - زٌه بٌه نَه کَوٌم

"he will work" - دَی بٌه کار کَوى

"we will rise" - مُوږ بٌه پُورتَه کېږُو
