Perfect

The perfect tense in Dari corresponds to the English equivalent of the present perfect.

The perfect is formed from the present of the verb بودن "to be" (represented by the personal endings) preceded by the past participle of the main verb:

1st pers. sing. گفته ام "I have said"

2nd pers. sing. گفته ای "you have said"

3rd pers. sing. گفته است "he (she) has said"

1st pers. pl. گفته ایم "we have said"

2nd pers. pl. گفته اید "you have said"

3rd pers. pl. گفته اند "they have said"

The perfect can be used in the sentences like the following:

"They have fulfilled the task." وظیفه را اجرا کرده اند.

"I have told him." من به او گفته ام.

The negative is formed by adding the prefix نه "not" to the past participle of the main verb:

"He (she) has not said." او نگفته است.

"You have not come." شما نه آمده اید.

"I have told nothing." چیزی نگفته ام.
