Present Tense Forms

In the present tense forms, all Dari verbs are conjugated by adding the following personal endings (without the initial ا alef) to the Present Stem:

personal endings conjugated verb

1st pers. sing. م am میروم "I go"

2nd pers. sing. ی i میروی "you go"

3rd pers. sing. د ad میرود "he (she) goes"

1st pers. pl. یم im میرویم "we go"

2nd pers. pl. ید id میرو ید "you go"

3rd pers. pl. ند and میروند "they go"

In informal speech, the 3rd person singular ending د ad is pronounced a, the 2nd person plural ending ید id is pronounced in and the 3rd person plural ending ند and is pronounced an.

The following present tense forms are formed from the present stem by the addition of the personal endings mentioned above: the Present-Future, the Subjunctive Present, and the Imperative.
