Personal Directional Pronouns

Personal directional pronouns express the direction of an action. They can be translated into English as: "to me", "to us" - را , (an action is directed to a subject); "to you" - دَر , "to him", "to her ", "to it", "to them" - وَر (an action is directed from a subject).

Personal directional pronouns have no number. They have the following forms:

First person - [raa] را

Second person - [dar] دَر

Third person - [war] وَر .

Personal directional pronouns can be used as follows:

a) with the postpositions څْخَه، نَه، سَرَه، تَه، بانْدی and others (see Postpositions), they can act as synonyms of possessive pronouns or personal pronouns in the indirect case.

For example, the table below shows the personal directional pronouns with the postpositions تَه and څْخَه :

"from us" - دٌ مُوږ څْخَه

"from me" - زْما څْخَه ,

"from us" - زمُوږ څْخَه

"from me, us" - را څْخَه

Second

"from you (singular)" -

- دٌ تا څْخَه ,

"from you (plural)" -

- دٌ تاسُو څْخَه

"from you (singular)" -

- سْتا څْخَه ,

"from you (plural)" -

- سْتاسُو څْخَه

"from you (singular and plural)" - دَرڅْخَه

Third

"from him" - دٌ دٌه څْخَه ,

"from her" - دٌ دې څْخَه

"from them" - دٌ دُوی څْخَه

"from him, her, them" -

- وَر څْخَه

"Write a letter to me/ us". - یو خَط را تَه وُلیکَه.

"Homeland is dear for them". - هېواد وَر بانْدی گْران دۍ .

b) with verbs, as prefixes indicating the direction of an action:

"to go" - تْلٌل + را "to come" - راتْلٌل  (an action is directed to a subject)

"to do" - کَوٌل + ور "to give" - وَرْکَوٌل  (an action is directed from a subject)
