Interrogative Pronouns

In Dari, an interrogative pronoun introduces a question.

The common interrogative pronouns in Dari are: کی "who," چی "what," چند "how much," کدام "which," کو , کجا "where," چرا "why."

"What did he (she) say?" او چه گفت؟

"Why didn't you come?" چرا شما نیامدید؟

The pronouns کی "who" and چی "what" also have short forms: که "who" and چه"what."

Interrogative pronouns are generally used like in English as interrogative adjectives in close connection with a noun:

"what person, who" چه کسی

"what thing, what" چه چیزی
