Adverbs

Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. They express the circumstances that attend an action or a state, or point out some characteristic features of an action or a quality.

Adverbs may be simple or compound. (See Adverb Formation for details.)

Adverbs are classified in several groups, according to their meanings:

a) adverbs of place,

b) adverbs of time,

c) adverbs of degree and measure,

d) interrogative adverbs,

e) adverbs of manner.

Adverbs can act as adverbial modifiers in a sentence.
