In English, proper nouns name specific persons, places, or things, and are capitalized.
In Dari, a proper noun also names a specific person, place, or thing. However, languages written in Arabic script do not have capital letters. Proper nouns in Dari are sometimes placed in quotation marks, especially if the name is unfamiliar to native speakers of Dari.
"در ایالت "ویرجینیا
"In the state of Virginia"
آنها او را "خوش مراد" می گفتند
"They called him Khush Marad"
