Types of Verbs

There are two main types of verbs in Korean: action verbs and descriptive verbs.

Action verbs denote actions, motions and processes.

읽다 "to read", 말하다 "to speak"

Descriptive verbs (adjectives) denote qualities or states.

좋다 "to be good", 어렵다 "to be difficult"

Both action verbs and descriptive verbs have tenses, speech levels, and final endings. In addition, action verbs have voice and aspect, and are further divided into transitive and intransitive verbs. Descriptive verbs have degrees.
