The jussive mood ( الْجَزْمُ) has many functions, including negation of the past tense and negation of commands. The jussive mood is similar to the present indicative. It is formed by deleting ن and by adding the diacritic sign "sukuun" ْ over the last letter. In the second and third person feminine plural forms, however, there are no changes.

For the jussive forms of hollow or defective weak verbs in the present tense forms, the long vowels ي و ا are reduced to their short counterparts:
(أَنْتَ) لَمْ تَزُرْ becomes (أَنْتَ) تَزورُ
(أَنْتَ) تُصْغي becomes (أَنْتَ) لَمْ تُصْغِ
(أَنْتَ) تُرْضي becomes (أَنْتَ) لَمْ تُرْضَ
