Postpositions

Unlike English, Hindi has no prepositions. There are, however, special words that function in the same way as prepositions in English. These words are called postpositions.

In contrast to a preposition, a postposition is put after a word it modifies. The word being modified always takes the oblique form (singular or plural, as appropriate).

There are two types of postposition in Hindi: simple and compound.
