Arabic grammar is extremely complex, and can be baffling even to experts and native speakers. Since each Arab country has its own dialect, Classical Arabic is learned in school, but it is not generally used in daily life. Although Classical Arabic is used in writing and in formal situations throughout the Arab world, the spoken forms of Arabic vary widely. Of all the spoken dialects, Egyptian Arabic is probably the most widely understood, due to Egypt's role as producer of movies and TV programs in the Arab world. In order for people from different countries with different dialects to communicate effectively, a form of Modern Standard Arabic is used. The level of grammatical complexity may vary according to the formality of the occasion.
