In the Korean language, there are 21 vowels: 10 simple vowels and 11 diphthongs.

[ui] - this sound has no analogue in English. It is a mixture of [u] and [I].

의사 [uisa] "doctor"

Note: After consonants, the letter ㅢ is pronounced like [I]. For example, 희다 [hida] "white". At the beginning of a syllable, it is pronounced like [ui]. For example, 의자 [ui-ja] "chair".
